A new dawn is shortly upon us.
Taillights in view and headlights swiftly passing.
We drive.
Bridges over water and street lights mirrored in the wake.
We take the next breath, a gift, undeserved and granted only by grace.
The road in front of us is long.
Sometimes lonely in the dark; a spark.
Reflectors moving in our peripheral; standing still.
Thoughts swim of sleep, but eyes wide open bring images of waiting.
Darkness only illuminated by the narrow lamps on the vehicle we were blessed with for a trip that allows family to be within our reach no matter how far.
Fog rolls in to cloud that darkness; reflects the light in orange haze.
Yet we know that a new dawn is coming.
Mere hours of this road humming.
A light will rise and widen our gaze.
Along beside us,
Behind us;
All around, other drives being driven.
Other gifts being given.
A new dawn is rising.
What will you do with it on your ride?
